Ian Scheffer is a composer, sound designer, and synthesizer/noise enthusiast currently based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, recently graduating with a Master of Arts in Music Technology from Coastal Carolina University.

Ian scored the 2026 Dunwich Horror Fest Best Short Film, “A Werewolf in Wisconsin”. He co-composed Season 1 of Historyman Comics’ “The Rise of Thomas Sumter”, for the South Carolina 250th Commission. Ian assisted with Synth Programming for the 2025 Fortnite x Godzilla crossover. He has scored a number of independent films and stage productions while attending grad school; including “I Am The Woman”, a short film commissioned by the Amelia Island Dance Festival, and “Macbeth” put on by Coastal Carolina University. Prior to his freelance career, he majored in Music Performance at Reinhardt University.

Not one to just be confined to a studio, Ian has begun taking his modular synthesizers outdoors, to create ambient music with the help of the bioelectricity from plants, leading to the first of many works “Glaciers of The Southern Sky”.

In an effort to bring more of the film industry to South Carolina, in partnership with Persimmon Lane Studios, he has started the Grand Strand Film Orchestra and Choir; catering to Indie and Micro-Budget composers, to make quality recordings of real players attainable.
